Reflection

It's January - a time for reflection so they tell us. Wedding season has slowed down and my CPA is wanting all the numbers and reconciliations. I just want the photos. Sorry for the emails to all my past brides. But we LOVE when we get professional photos back. It's like pulling teeth trying to communicate with past clients. I get it - you are over it. I was over my wedding too. I don't think I even hounded my photographer like most do for their photos! (Right Brit!

What a year! We had lots of changes! We closed our retail store, moved to a bigger location and only cater to weddings & events. Wow! Why didn't I do this earlier? I feel at ease coming to work. I love it again. Retail plus long nights and weekends were tough for us. Everyone's attitude has changed. It's amazing. Change is always good. Life is so much sweeter. Now we get to focus on all our brides & grooms without the retail stopping us from creating fabulous floral.

This September wedding was one of my favorites. Not just for the flowers but for my team. Last minute I was able to sneak away during the busy September to enjoy a Saturday night with my husband and brother & sister in law. My staff stepped it up a notch like always. There were 4 of us to knock out the setup and off I went as they dropped me off to my husband to watch the Razorbacks lose to the Aggies yet again...sigh...We will get 'em next year! It's the little things like that make me so grateful for our crew. We sacrifice for each other. No matter who has what going on, we make it work. And thats why I love my team. So now, enjoy the photos from this amazing Dallas Arboretum wedding in September. Photos by Nicole Berrett Photography

Venue Spotlight: Gather in Downtown McKinney

Ok, if you haven't been to Gather in Downtown McKinney yet, why not?! It's such an amazing place full of charm and character. The brick walls, hanging chandeliers, the brunch, the owners are all what makes Gather standout from the rest. Whether it's a rehearsal dinner, baby shower, wedding or brunch, it's the place to go for all.

Crystal & Jennifer (mother daughter team like us here at The Stalk Market) are the easiest to work with by far. They are about to start some remodeling and increasing the capacity to 150, more room to party! Seriously, go check this out. Peak in the doors if they are locked, it's a charmer from the outside too!

Here's one of our winter weddings earlier this year.

Spring!

Hi flower lovers,

Spring is here! It is so fun to watch the flowers come and go season to season. I am so excited for some to go and really ecstatic for some to come! Peonies being my favorite!
We have some exciting news that we will be "officially" releasing in hopefully a couple months. Let's just say TSM (The Stalk Market) is growing! :) **Details will come soon!

With that being said, I would like to introduce you to Rachel! She is our newest (not so new to me anymore, but new to social media world via TSM) floral designer. Rachel came to us in August inquiring about a floral designer position. She has had no experience (which I LOVED!) in floral design, but she was so eager to learn after recently getting married & the flowers being her favorite part. After chatting via email and a little Facebook stalking (yes, Rachel, I Facebook stalked to you! - and all employers do this FYI people!) I could just tell she would be the perfect fit. Rachel came in a little shy but soon opened up when she probably realized I like to watch tv and work! :) We have a very laid back environment here at TSM and I think that's what makes work fun.
Rachel has come a long way since learning the trade. She picked up designing like it was natural for her! We are so thankful for her and all her hard work and can't wait for more! Here's to the next year of weddings! :)

Cheers,
Lindsey

Hello flower friends,

Happy New Year! It’s a new year and we couldn’t be more excited! We have a lot planned for 2016. With already two weddings under our belts for this year, we are pumped for what’s to come.

After every calendar year it’s fun to look back at what all we went on. In Texas, there are an abundance of outdoor wedding venues. Usually the weather is pretty decent here if you like the heat. Well, this year that wasn’t the case. It felt like Seattle.  The rain came and never left well at least it felt like that in May and October (the two biggest wedding months of the year!)

I remember Memorial Day weekend, we had 5 outdoor weddings and all were moved inside except for one. My heart just aches for the brides. They spend the past year or so planning this beautiful outdoor wedding and then mother nature blows up in their face! But luckily between the bride, their coordinator and our team we make any outdoor ceremony turn into a beautiful indoor ceremony in the blink of an eye! Here’s a look of the one outdoor wedding Memorial Day weekend that didn’t rain during the ceremony.

Cheers,
Lindsey
